A man was injured in a shooting Friday night in New Orleans but did not immediately realize he had been hit, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Victim Heard Gunshot Before Leaving Scene
Police said the incident happened around 10:25 p.m. in the 3900 block of Dublin Street. The victim told officers he was standing in a parking lot when he heard a loud popping sound, but did not initially think he had been struck.
Injury Discovered After Lyft Ride Home
After leaving the area in a Lyft, the man returned home and later realized he had been shot. It was only then that he sought help.
Hospitalized for Treatment
Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released details about his condition at this time.
