A tragic case in Brooklyn has left a 7-month-old girl dead after gunmen on a moped mistakenly targeted her father during a violent attack. Law enforcement sources have revealed that the gunmen were aiming for Jamari Patterson, the baby’s father, due to a social media feud between Patterson and a rival crew.
The attack, which occurred in broad daylight on Wednesday, left little Kaori dead and her 2-year-old brother wounded.
The Deadly Incident
On the afternoon of Wednesday, the family was out for a walk near Humboldt and Moore Streets in East Williamsburg. Jamari Patterson, 22, and Kaori’s mother, Lianna Charles-Moore, 20, were pushing a double stroller with their two young children when gunmen riding a moped opened fire at Patterson.
The shooters missed their intended target but tragically hit little Kaori in the head, killing her instantly. The bullet also grazed her 2-year-old brother’s back before the assailants fled the scene.
Lianna Charles-Moore described the horrifying moment, recalling how she initially thought the sounds were fireworks. When she looked to her left, she saw her daughter lying in a pool of blood. “She was shot in the head. She was just bleeding. It was just too much,” Charles-Moore said.
The Gunmen and the Investigation
The moped-riding suspects crashed their vehicle two blocks away from the scene of the shooting. Amuri Greene, 21, one of the alleged shooters, was identified as a person of interest after the crash. He was taken to the hospital with a leg injury and remains under police watch.
Despite not being formally charged yet, authorities, including NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, have stated that Greene is expected to face murder charges for his role in the killing.
Green’s alleged accomplice, who was driving the moped, remains at large. The NYPD has launched a massive manhunt to locate the second suspect.

Law enforcement sources indicated that the attack stemmed from a longstanding feud between the Bushwick Houses, where Patterson and his family live, and the Marcy Houses, where Greene resides.
