A Pennsylvania man, Robert Zimmerman, is facing charges after he allegedly set a fatal house fire following a romantic rejection. The fire, which resulted in the death of 44-year-old Brandy Phillippe and injuries to two other residents, was deliberately started by Zimmerman after his advances were rejected by a woman living in the residence.
The Fatal Fire
The tragic incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, May 3, at a residence on Bratton Avenue in Lewistown Borough, located between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Firefighters responded to the blaze at approximately 11:55 p.m.
The house, which had been sublet to several tenants, was engulfed in flames when responders arrived. Phillippe was unable to escape the fire and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Mifflin County Coroner’s Office.
The fire left two other residents injured—one man jumped from a second-floor window, suffering severe facial burns and internal injuries, while a woman fell from the same height, landing on the sidewalk below.
Witnesses to the fire reported hearing people yell for others to jump to safety as flames engulfed the building. A neighbor described seeing “orange flames coming out the kitchen window,” signaling the intense heat and danger.
Investigation Uncovers Zimmerman’s Motive
