A community softball game in Louisiana turned chaotic after a disturbance escalated into a frightening situation involving gunfire. What should have been a peaceful local event quickly became a scene of panic, though thankfully no one was injured.
Disturbance Breaks Out at Community Game
The incident happened on Sunday evening in Cheneyville, located in Rapides Parish. Around 7:15 p.m., authorities received reports of a large disturbance involving multiple groups of people at a local softball game.
When deputies arrived, they found several individuals involved in the altercation. Officers quickly stepped in and managed to bring the situation under control.
Four Arrested at the Scene
Police identified four people connected to the disturbance and took them into custody without any resistance. During the investigation, authorities also found that one of the individuals was carrying a knife.
Despite the tension and confrontation, no injuries were reported during the initial altercation, which helped prevent the situation from becoming more serious.
Gunfire Causes Panic
While deputies were still at the scene, the situation took another alarming turn. A man reportedly fired several shots into the air, creating panic among those present at the game.
Witnesses described the suspect as a man wearing a blue hoodie. Authorities say he fired around five rounds before fleeing the area.
Suspect Escapes, Investigation Continues
The suspect ran into a nearby residential area before deputies could catch him. Law enforcement officers immediately began searching for him but have not yet made an arrest.
Investigators recovered shell casings from the scene, which will be tested for fingerprints and DNA. These could help identify and locate the suspect.
