A positive development has come for the local community in Louisiana as a new leader steps in to support growth and development in the downtown area. Thibodaux Main Street has officially announced Alexandra “Allie” Domangue as its new Executive Director.
A Local Talent with Strong Roots
Allie Domangue was born and raised in Houma, and she proudly describes her upbringing as a mix of strong local culture and disciplined training. Her personality reflects both creativity and dedication, shaped by her experiences growing up in the bayou region.
Outside of her professional life, Allie enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, camping, and fishing. She also has a love for music and singing, which adds to her vibrant personality.
From Kitchen Passion to Professional Career
Allie’s journey began with a love for cooking at a young age. Inspired by watching her family cook, she developed a deep passion for food that eventually turned into a successful career.
She studied at the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Her talent and dedication earned her a prestigious scholarship to study at L’Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon, France, giving her international exposure in the culinary field.
After returning home, she worked as a Sous Chef at Cinclare in Thibodaux for two years, gaining valuable leadership and teamwork experience.
A Shift Toward Community Leadership
Although she enjoyed working as a chef, Allie realised that her true interest was in connecting with people and contributing to the community in a broader way. She felt that her communication and leadership skills could be better used outside the kitchen.
A conversation with Michael Dalmau at Cinclare played a key role in this transition. He encouraged her to consider the Executive Director role, recognising her ability to lead and manage effectively.
Vision for Thibodaux’s Future
In her new role, Allie wants to be more than just a leader—she aims to be an active and visible part of the community. Her goal is to help local businesses grow and to strengthen the sense of connection among residents.
She believes that true leadership comes from being involved at the ground level. Having worked within the local economy, she understands the challenges businesses face and wants to help move the community from simply surviving to truly thriving.
Focus Areas as Executive Director
Allie plans to focus on improving accessibility, building strong relationships, and maintaining a balance between tradition and modern growth. She wants to protect the history of Thibodaux while also making it a lively and welcoming place for future generations.
Her vision includes creating a downtown that is not only economically strong but also full of life and togetherness.
A Full Circle Moment
For Allie, this opportunity is deeply personal. After gaining experience in different places and industries, she now returns to serve the very community that shaped her.
She sees this role not just as a job but as a responsibility and honour. Supporting local businesses and helping the community grow is something she considers a privilege.
