A major drug investigation in Alexandria, Louisiana, has led to the arrest of a man accused of distributing narcotics from multiple locations. Authorities say the case involves a significant amount of drugs, a firearm, and cash, highlighting ongoing efforts to crack down on illegal drug activity in the area.
Arrest After Months-Long Investigation
Freddie Lee Henton Jr., 50, was arrested on April 16 following a detailed investigation by the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement Unit (RADE).
Officials said the investigation focused on alleged crack cocaine distribution in Alexandria and involved coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies.
Searches at Two Properties
Investigators obtained warrants to search two locations connected to Henton. One property on Rose Marie Street was listed as his primary residence, while another on North Street was believed to be used for drug distribution.
During the searches, agents recovered large quantities of illegal substances and related materials.
Drugs, Weapons and Cash Seized
Authorities reported seizing around 82 grams of crack cocaine and more than one pound of powder cocaine. In addition, they found promethazine cough syrup, packaging materials, and equipment believed to be used in drug preparation.
A semi-automatic Draco-style pistol was also recovered, along with more than $8,000 in cash. Investigators believe the money may be linked to drug transactions.
Multiple Charges Filed
Henton now faces several serious charges, including possession of drugs with intent to distribute and firearm-related offences. He is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and involvement in financial activities connected to illegal drug operations.
Authorities confirmed that there were already existing warrants related to drug distribution.
Parole Violation Adds to Case
Officials stated that Henton was already on parole for a previous drug conviction from 2018. As part of his parole conditions, he was not allowed to possess a firearm.
Because of this, he is also being held on a parole violation. Civil asset forfeiture proceedings have been started for the cash recovered during the investigation.
Current Status
Henton was taken into custody without any incident and is currently being held at the Rapides Parish Detention Center. His bond for the new charges has been set at $80,500, while he remains in custody on the parole hold.
