Saints running back Alvin Kamara brought his football flair to the baseball field on Saturday, May 23, when he joined the Savannah Bananas for a surprise appearance.
Kamara, wearing the team’s bright yellow uniform, thrilled fans at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, home of his alma mater, the University of Tennessee Volunteers. Around 101,000 spectators were on hand to watch the fun crossover moment.
Pinch Running Appearance
During the Bananas’ 8-7 loss to the Texas Tailgaters, Kamara entered the game in the fifth inning as a pinch runner. A Savannah player had limped to first base and needed to be substituted, giving Kamara the chance to take the field.
Shortly after stepping onto the diamond, Kamara playfully feigned a hamstring pull, only to “recover” after a brief dance-off with his first-base coach. The moment added a lighthearted touch to the game and got the crowd cheering.
Scoring on a Home Run
Kamara didn’t have to sprint across the field himself, but he trotted home just a few pitches later to score on a home run hit by Dan Oberst. Fans were treated to a memorable moment as the NFL star added some baseball action to his repertoire.
