An Amtrak train traveling on the Mardi Gras service line to New Orleans has been rerouted to Mobile after colliding with a commercial vehicle in Grand Bay, Alabama, on the morning of April 26.
Accident Details
The collision occurred at the intersection of Alabama State Highway 188 and U.S. 190. Responders on the scene reported that two individuals were removed from the truck following the crash and treated for minor injuries.
Cause of the Accident
Authorities explained that the 18-wheeler was having difficulty crossing the railroad tracks when it was struck by the Amtrak train. The incident caused significant disruption to the train’s scheduled service, which was initially heading to New Orleans.
