An investigation has uncovered that the nationwide “No Kings” protests, the third wave of rallies since President Donald Trump returned to office, are funded by a staggering $3 billion budget and coordinated by hundreds of organizations. Investigative journalist Asra Nomani broke the story on Saturday, the same day as the latest demonstrations took place across the country.
Nomani’s investigation reveals that what many believe to be “grassroots” protests are actually “100% astroturf”—a term used for fake grassroots efforts, backed by powerful financial forces.
Funding Behind the Protests: George Soros and Neville Roy Singham
Nomani’s report identified around 500 organizations behind the protests and named two billionaires as the main funders: George Soros and Neville Roy Singham. Nomani stated, “You have two tycoons who are trying to upend the United States as we know it, trying to stop the Trump administration at every turn.”
She emphasized the importance of following the money and ideology behind these protests, urging Americans to “take this really seriously” as it represents an industry aiming to challenge the Trump administration for partisan reasons.
Soros-Funded Organizations Leading the Protests
One of the key organizations mentioned in Nomani’s report is Indivisible, a Democratic political advocacy group that receives funding from George Soros. According to the permit for the main march in St. Paul, Minnesota, Indivisible played a significant role in coordinating that protest.
The Socialist and Communist Networks Behind the Protests
Neville Roy Singham, a major backer of revolutionary socialist politics, has spent nearly a decade funding activist groups promoting socialist and communist ideologies. Some of these groups include:
- The People’s Forum in New York
- The Party for Socialism and Liberation
- The ANSWER Coalition
- CodePink (Co-founded by Jodie Evans, who is married to Singham)
These organizations also collaborate with the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, another group promoting radical left-wing politics.
Socialist Messaging and Revolutionary Goals
At protests in Minneapolis on March 27, members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation were seen preparing protest signs that read “NO KINGS. NO WAR.” The signs also prominently featured the group’s name, and members were planning to use these protests to push for revolutionary organizing. A message circulating within these groups read:
“It’s the time to go out and join the people, get out our revolutionary message, and turn a day of protest into long-term gains for the people’s movement.”
Singham himself has reportedly described the United States as “fascism” and promotes Mao Zedong’s “People’s War” doctrine, which advocates for revolutionary movements to radicalize broader political struggles.
Hollywood’s Involvement and Trump’s Response
The protests also saw the involvement of prominent Hollywood figures. Actor Robert De Niro spoke at the New York City rally, demanding that President Trump be removed from office. De Niro said, “There have been other presidents who have tested the constitutional limits of their power, but none have been such an existential threat to our freedoms and security – NONE – except Trump.”
In response, Trump called the protests a “joke” and targeted George Soros, revealing his concerns about the movement’s funding and backing.
Tensions Around Policing and Federal Authority
As protests continue to grow, cities like Chicago have seen rising tensions over policing and federal authority. Chicago’s mayor granted local police sweeping new powers, which have already faced strong opposition from Trump’s immigration enforcement agents.
