The decades-old disappearance case of Anna Manning may finally be closer to being solved after authorities discovered human remains on a property in Kentucky linked to the investigation.

The Boyle County Sheriff’s Office announced that skeletal remains were found on May 25 during a search connected to Anna’s disappearance. Officials said the remains were discovered in an area previously identified as important to the case.

Although investigators have not yet officially confirmed the identity of the remains, the discovery came only days after Anna’s husband and mother-in-law were indicted on serious criminal charges.

Anna Manning Disappeared in 1992

Anna Manning was just 23 years old when she vanished in Junction City, Kentucky, on November 19, 1992.

According to reports, she was last seen by her aunt, Elsie Williams, outside a jewelry store. Anna reportedly shouted that she wanted to tell her aunt something, but the two never got the chance to speak again.

Elsie had raised Anna since she was 13 years old and spent decades searching for answers about her disappearance.

Husband and Mother-in-Law Charged

Earlier this month, authorities indicted Anna’s husband, Anthony Manning, on charges including murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse.

His mother, Barbara Manning, was also charged with complicity to murder, complicity to tampering with evidence, and complicity to abuse of a corpse.

Both are currently being held at the Boyle County Detention Center on $2 million cash bonds.

Past Abuse Allegations Resurface

Reports connected to the case revealed that months before Anna disappeared, she had filed a legal complaint against Anthony Manning.

According to court records, Anthony was accused of unlawfully imprisoning Anna during a period when the couple was separated. Authorities said he allegedly handcuffed her and forced her from the house before she escaped and contacted police.

Anthony later served jail time related to the incident.

Remains Found on Family Property

Investigators recently searched a property owned by Barbara Manning on Spring Valley Drive, where the skeletal remains were eventually discovered buried in a shallow grave behind a mobile home.

The discovery deeply affected Anna’s aunt, who said she always believed her niece was buried there.

Elsie told local media that she felt Anna’s presence over the years and never stopped believing the truth would eventually come out.

Investigation Still Ongoing

Authorities say the investigation remains active as forensic experts work to officially identify the remains.

Anthony and Barbara Manning are expected to appear in court for arraignment on June 15.

The case has drawn renewed public attention because it remained unsolved for more than 30 years and may now finally provide answers to Anna Manning’s family.
