Authorities apprehend a guy wanted for nearly eight years on Assumption Parish contractor fraud allegations

NAPOLEONVILLE – Authorities have arrested Jarred Griffin, a New Orleans man wanted for nearly eight years on charges of contractor fraud in Assumption Parish. Griffin was taken into custody on March 30, 2026, in Plaquemines Parish, where deputies located him in connection to an outstanding warrant from Assumption Parish.

The Fraud Scheme

The case dates back to June 2018, when deputies received a complaint from a resident in Pierre Part regarding contractor fraud. The complainant stated that Griffin, who claimed to own Houma-based Alpha Contractors, had agreed to do construction work on their property. After accepting a deposit for the work, Griffin never returned to begin the project.

Attempts to contact Griffin were unsuccessful, and it was later revealed that neither Griffin nor Alpha Contractors were licensed to provide contracting services in Louisiana.

Charges and Arrest

In November 2018, after an investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Griffin with residential contractor fraud. Despite efforts to locate him, Griffin remained at large until his arrest in Plaquemines Parish nearly eight years later.

On Tuesday, Griffin was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of residential contractor fraud.
