A man from Reserve, Louisiana, has been arrested following a traffic stop earlier this month, during which he fled on foot and later faced charges related to possessing a firearm and resisting arrest.
Fleeing Suspect Arrested After Traffic Stop and Firearm Recovery
Irine Bailey, 22, was arrested on April 23, 2026, at his residence in LaPlace without incident. The arrest followed an earlier traffic stop on April 14, where Bailey, a passenger in a red Nissan Sentra, fled on foot into a wooded area to evade law enforcement.
The Traffic Stop Incident
At approximately 1:20 p.m. on April 14, deputies with the Patrol and Narcotics divisions initiated a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Highway 51. During the stop, Bailey, who was a passenger, bolted from the vehicle and ran into nearby woods. Despite an extensive search involving detectives, patrol deputies, and SWAT officers, Bailey was not located at that time.
Firearm Found in the Vehicle
While Bailey managed to flee, deputies arrested the driver of the vehicle, Roquan King, 23, from Reserve. King was charged with possession of tapentadol, a prescription opioid. A rifle was also recovered from the front passenger-side floorboard of the car during the stop. Tapentadol, a Schedule II controlled substance, is frequently targeted in law enforcement operations due to concerns about its increasing misuse and distribution.
Bailey’s Criminal History and Current Charges
Bailey, currently on parole, has an extensive criminal history, including prior convictions for second-degree rape, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and aggravated burglary. His latest arrest adds charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting an officer by force.
Bailey’s parole status and history of violent offenses complicate the case, as he is now facing serious legal consequences for his actions.
