A shocking incident at a Baton Rouge restaurant has led to the arrest of a young couple in Houston after a dispute over a food order turned violent. The case highlights how quickly small arguments can escalate into dangerous situations.
Argument Over Food Order Turns Violent
The incident happened on February 2 at a restaurant located on South Flannery Road in Baton Rouge. Police were called after reports of a shooting inside the restaurant.
When officers arrived:
- They found the restaurant owner with a gunshot wound
- She was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment
Thankfully, she survived, but the situation was serious and required a full investigation.
What Happened Inside the Restaurant
According to police reports and witness statements, the situation started as a simple complaint.
- Two customers, Daylin Woods (18) and Savannah Spears (21), visited the restaurant
- They ordered food, paid, and left
- Shortly after, Woods called to complain about the order
The staff tried to resolve the issue, but the call quickly became heated. The employee ended the call due to Woods’ aggressive behaviour.
Couple Returns and Situation Escalates
Things took a dangerous turn when the couple came back to the restaurant.
- They began shouting and using abusive language
- Staff offered to remake the order, but the argument continued
- Witnesses said Woods had a gun and placed it on the counter
At this point, the situation became extremely tense and risky for everyone inside.
Gunfire Breaks Out
The restaurant owner stepped in to handle the situation and instructed employees to move to safety.
- Workers hid inside a freezer and called police
- Moments later, gunshots were heard
According to the investigation:
- The owner armed herself with her personal firearm
- A gunfight broke out between Woods and the owner
- The owner was shot during the exchange
- Additional shots were fired outside, damaging the building
Suspects Flee the Scene
After the shooting:
- Woods and Spears fled in a white Kia with a Louisiana license plate
- Surveillance footage helped identify Woods
- Witnesses later confirmed Spears in a police lineup
Their identities were quickly confirmed, and a search began.
Arrest Made in Houston
On March 11, authorities located and arrested both suspects in Houston, Texas.
They are now facing serious charges, including:
- Attempted second-degree murder
- Illegal use of a weapon
- Aggravated criminal damage to property
Both are currently held in Harris County Jail on fugitive charges and are expected to appear in court on March 26.
