Baton Rouge Man Arrested with Stolen Guns and Drugs
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported that officers responded Monday morning to a complaint about a man sleeping in a broken-down car blocking a driveway on Lee Drive near Highland Road.
When officers arrived, they found Myrell Howard in the vehicle. Howard reportedly admitted to having outstanding warrants. A search of his car revealed two stolen firearms, amphetamines, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, as well as other people’s credit and debit cards, blank checks, and IDs.
Charges and Booking
Howard was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on multiple charges, including:
- Illegal possession of stolen firearms
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Illegal carrying of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance
- Fugitive from probation and parole
Authorities say the arrest underscores ongoing efforts to remove illegal firearms and drugs from local streets.
