A shocking incident in Pennsylvania has raised serious concerns about child safety after a man was accused of putting his young daughter in danger during a motorcycle crash. The situation became even more troubling due to what happened after the accident, leading to multiple charges against him.
Dangerous Ride Ends in Crash
On April 13, Dallas Coburn, 27, was riding a motorcycle in Canton Township, Pennsylvania, with his 7-year-old daughter sitting on the gas tank in front of him. This position is considered extremely unsafe, especially at speed.
As seen in video footage, two vehicles ahead slowed down while Coburn’s motorcycle approached quickly from behind. When he tried to brake, the motorcycle lost balance, fell onto its side, and slid across the road. During the crash, his daughter became trapped underneath the bike.
Disturbing Moments After the Accident
A 911 call captured the chaos that followed. The dispatcher reported that the motorcycle had crashed and that a child was screaming in pain.
Instead of focusing on immediate help, Coburn reportedly stood up and shouted at another driver on the road. Witnesses said he appeared angry and blamed others for the accident.
After the crash, he allegedly placed his injured daughter back onto the motorcycle and threatened another driver. People nearby stopped to help, but before emergency services could arrive, Coburn left the scene.
Leaving the Scene and Hospital Incident
Police say Coburn put his daughter into another person’s vehicle so she could be taken to a hospital. He also went to the hospital, where officers later spoke with him.
During questioning, Coburn allegedly admitted that he had been drinking earlier. Officers noticed signs of intoxication, but he refused to undergo a blood test.
In another serious concern, Coburn reportedly took his daughter out of the hospital before doctors had cleared her to leave. This raised further questions about the child’s safety and well-being.
Multiple Charges Filed
Authorities have filed several charges against Coburn due to his actions. These include child endangerment, driving under the influence, making threats, and reckless behaviour.
He also faces additional charges related to traffic violations, such as not having a proper motorcycle licence, lack of vehicle inspection, and providing false information.
Police officials described the situation as extremely dangerous, especially considering the child’s position on the motorcycle and the lack of safety precautions.
Child’s Condition and Police Response
Despite the severity of the crash, the child was fortunate to avoid serious injuries. Police officials noted that it was surprising she was not more badly hurt.
Authorities have now issued a warrant for Coburn’s arrest and are working to locate him.
