Gordon Chang Discusses China’s Role on FOX Business
Gordon Chang, a senior fellow at the Gatestone Institute, appeared on FOX Business’ “Mornings with Maria” to explain how China’s support for Iran could quickly escalate tensions with the United States. Chang highlighted that advanced weapons used by Iran against U.S. forces may already be linked to China, which raises the stakes for any future confrontations in the region.
Chinese Missiles Used Against U.S. Forces
Chang pointed to reports suggesting that some of the supersonic missiles fired by Iran at the USS Abraham Lincoln, a U.S. aircraft carrier, were Chinese-made. “It’s clear that the Iranians have more of those Chinese missiles,” Chang stated. He warned that any direct attack on U.S. military assets could immediately alter the relationship between the U.S. and China.
Escalation of U.S.-China Relations
Chang emphasized that if one of these Chinese missiles were to hit a U.S. ship, it would change the dynamic between Washington and Beijing “overnight.” He suggested that this growing involvement of China in the conflict could lead to greater tensions.
China’s Support for Iran: A Broader Concern
Chang also noted that China’s involvement in the conflict is not limited to isolated support, but covers multiple layers of assistance, excluding direct military engagement. “China’s support for Iran is across the board… It’s everything except for combat troops,” Chang said. He urged the U.S. to consider China an enemy combatant, given its significant role in supporting Iran.

As tensions in the Strait of Hormuz continue, Chang pointed out that the U.S. is facing a growing challenge from China, a rival power benefiting from the conflict while avoiding direct accountability. He highlighted the increasing complexity of the situation as the U.S. faces indirect threats from a powerful nation like China.
