A shocking incident at a bank in Tennessee has raised concerns about public safety after a customer allegedly attacked an employee without warning. The situation quickly turned violent, leaving one worker injured and a suspect in custody.
What Happened at the Bank
The incident took place at a Bank of America branch in Chattanooga, Tennessee. According to police, Ladarryl Martin entered the bank on Wednesday afternoon to access his safety deposit box.
While an employee was assisting him, something suddenly changed. Authorities say Martin became extremely angry without any clear reason and then attacked the worker.
Violent Attack Inside the Bank
Reports state that the suspect allegedly punched and stabbed the employee and also fired a gun multiple times. Fortunately, none of the bullets struck the victim.
At first, police believed the worker had been shot, but later confirmed that his injuries were from a stabbing. The 28-year-old employee was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
Police Response and Arrest
Officers arrived quickly after receiving reports of gunfire. When they reached the scene, they found the injured employee inside the bank.
They also located Martin outside in the parking area. When questioned, he reportedly said he remembered going to the bank and then suddenly finding himself holding a gun. He also claimed he thought someone might be dead and tried to stop others from entering the building.
Unclear Motive Behind the Attack
At this stage, authorities have not identified a clear reason for the sudden outburst. Investigators are still trying to understand what caused the suspect to become so aggressive during what should have been a normal interaction.
Charges and Legal Status
Ladarryl Martin has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony. He is currently being held in the Hamilton County Jail with a bond set at $575,000.
His next court appearance is scheduled for June 9, where more details about the case may come forward.
