A Baton Rouge man facing serious federal weapons charges is now fighting allegations that he repeatedly violated the conditions of his court-ordered ankle monitor. Prosecutors claim the 25-year-old broke the rules more than 100 times while out on bond, including travelling outside Louisiana. However, the accused insists he had permission for every trip through the monitoring company supervising him.
Baton Rouge Man Challenges Claims of Ankle Monitor Violations
Ashtin Ursin, a 25-year-old Baton Rouge resident, is disputing claims that he violated his ankle monitor restrictions over 100 times while released on bond.
According to prosecutors, monitoring records showed at least 110 violations between April 14 and April 27, 2026. Officials said some of those alleged violations involved travelling to Houston for several days.
Ursin, however, argues that every trip and outing had been approved through the ankle monitoring company managing his supervision.

Prosecutors Say Trips Violated Court Order
According to court documents, Ursin was supposed to remain on house arrest at his mother’s home under strict conditions.
The order reportedly allowed him to leave only for:
- Medical appointments
- Court appearances
- Church attendance
- Work at his music studio
Prosecutors claim Ursin travelled outside those approved activities multiple times, including spending three days in Houston.
District Attorney Hillar Moore has now filed a motion seeking to revoke Ursin’s bond completely.
Ursin Says Monitoring Company Approved Every Trip
Ursin has strongly denied intentionally violating the court’s restrictions.
Text messages posted on his social media accounts appear to show conversations with someone connected to Homebound Monitoring. According to the messages, requests to leave the parish and even the state were allegedly approved.
One message reportedly referenced a “full day of partying,” while another stated that Ursin simply needed to keep communication open while under house arrest.
Homebound Monitoring later submitted a report stating Ursin had communicated with them regarding several events and activities.
Prosecutors Question Monitoring Company Decisions
Despite the monitoring company’s report, prosecutors argue that some approved activities did not match the original court order.
Officials pointed specifically to music shows and entertainment events, which prosecutors say were never approved by the judge.
District Attorney Hillar Moore stated that any changes or exceptions to house arrest conditions should have been approved directly by the court, not only by the monitoring company.
Moore said prosecutors are now requesting raw ankle monitor data to determine exactly where Ursin travelled and whether authorities were properly informed.
Ursin Faces Multiple Gun and Drug Charges
Court records show Ursin was first arrested on January 25, 2025, on several serious charges involving weapons and narcotics.
Those charges included:
- Illegal carrying of weapons
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Handling machine guns
- Possession of body armour
- Drug possession with intent to distribute
- Possession of illegal firearms by a convicted felon
His bond was reportedly set at $45,700, and he was released days later under conditions that prohibited firearm possession.
Rearrest and Federal Indictment Added More Trouble
Authorities arrested Ursin again on July 30, 2025, on additional gun and drug charges.
He later secured release again in March 2026 after agreeing to strict house arrest and ankle monitoring conditions.
Prosecutors had already attempted to revoke his bond before the latest monitoring controversy, arguing that he repeatedly ignored court restrictions and posed an ongoing concern.
Officials also noted that Ursin had been federally indicted following the July 2025 arrest.
Previous Murder Investigation Also Mentioned
Reports previously connected Ursin to a separate homicide investigation involving a 2022 murder case in Gonzales, Louisiana.
However, details regarding that investigation remain limited, and no new developments were included in the recent court filings about the ankle monitor dispute.
