At Walt Disney World, a man named Diego Rodriguez got into trouble after allegedly behaving aggressively with a staff member. According to reports, the incident happened on April 21 inside the theme park.
A performer dressed as Mirabel from Encanto noticed a family following her around the park. The family, which included Rodriguez, was repeatedly calling out to the character and trying to get her attention. Despite being told to wait for their turn, they continued to approach her.
Situation Quickly Escalates
The situation became more serious when the family did not follow instructions given by the staff. According to reports, the child ran up to the performer while she was interacting with other guests. Around the same time, the child’s mother reportedly waved an autograph book close to the performer’s face, adding to the confusion.
Things got worse when Rodriguez allegedly became aggressive. As per the affidavit, he forcibly grabbed a staff assistant and shook her while demanding to know why his child could not meet the character. Witnesses also claimed that he shouted in frustration, questioning why others were allowed to take photos while his family was not.
Staff Response and Police Involvement
Since performers are trained to stay in character and avoid confrontation, the assistant was unable to respond directly. She requested help from a colleague to handle the situation. Soon after, park management stepped in and escorted the family to the security office at Epcot Center.
Police were called to the scene, and the assistant later decided to press charges. The situation was treated seriously due to the physical nature of the alleged behaviour.
Legal Action and Ban
Following the incident, Rodriguez was arrested and charged with battery. He was taken to the Orange County Jail in Florida. According to court records, he has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In addition to the legal case, Disney has taken strict action. Rodriguez has been permanently banned from Walt Disney World and is not allowed to return in the future.
