East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore has filed a motion to revoke the bond of 18-year-old Xavier Williams, who was arrested twice in the span of six days.
Williams’ first arrest occurred on April 29, when he was taken into custody for allegedly attempting to hit his girlfriend at his uncle’s house in Baker. He was released on May 1 after posting a $30,000 bond, with conditions that included wearing an ankle monitor and adhering to an 8 p.m. curfew.
Second Arrest and New Charges
However, Williams was arrested again on May 5 in connection with the shooting of a Northeast High School student as they were getting off the school bus. As a result, Williams is being held without bond in connection with the second arrest.
Bond Violation and Legal Actions
On Monday, District Attorney Moore filed a motion seeking to revoke Williams’ bond from the April 29 arrest, arguing that Williams had violated his bond conditions. Moore claims that Williams engaged in criminal conduct, was re-arrested while out on bond, and was found to have possessed a firearm.
As part of the motion, Moore has also requested that the court subpoena records from Homebound Monitoring Pretrial and Probation Services, the company responsible for Williams’ ankle monitor. Moore is seeking to obtain Williams’ monitoring history, geographical mapping of his recorded locations, and any communication records between Williams and the monitoring company.
Next Steps in the Case
The motion, if granted, would address whether Williams was adhering to his bond conditions and where he was during the time between the two arrests.
