Father Survives 15 Shots at Close Range After Being Lured to Car with 'Flower for Mother's Day'

In today’s world, we are often told to be cautious of strangers, and for good reason. A Kentucky father experienced this harsh reality firsthand during a night out when he was attacked by three unknown men.

Man Survives Close-Range Shooting

According to the New York Post, Trey Iles and his girlfriend were at a Circle K buying snacks around 2:30 a.m. on May 9, 2026. Three strangers—Kortney Alford, 30, Terry Moses, 26, and Tiance Combs, 30—approached him, offering a flower for Mother’s Day.

An argument broke out, and Trey began walking toward a nearby bar. Two of the men reportedly followed him in a car and opened fire at close range, shooting him 15 times, WXIX reported.

Miraculously, Trey survived. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including five shots in one ankle, two or three in the other, and injuries to his arm and near his throat. He is currently in the hospital recovering from his injuries.

Family Support and Fundraiser

Trey’s father, Terry Iles, has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover his son’s hospital bills. “Trey is a son, father, a loved one, and someone who did not deserve this,” he wrote. He praised Trey’s girlfriend for staying by his side during the shooting, saying her presence, along with the efforts of the medical team, may have saved his life.

“We are incredibly thankful for her. Without her, he might not have survived, as well as the medical team fighting for him, and everyone who has shown love and support during this devastating time,” Terry Iles added.

Police Search for Suspects

The motive behind the attack remains unclear. Police have launched a manhunt for the three suspects. Combs faces attempted murder charges, Moses faces complicity to attempted murder, and Alford is wanted for facilitating attempted murder.

Authorities warn that all three suspects are armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Jason Gabbard at (859) 292-3680.

This terrifying incident serves as a reminder to remain vigilant, even during everyday outings, and highlights the importance of quick action and support from loved ones during violent situations.
