Four people lost their lives when a car being chased by an Alabama state trooper crashed into a tree. The incident happened late Friday night in Pike County, which is located in the southeast of Alabama.
According to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) spokeswoman Amanda Wasden, the driver of the car was trying to escape the trooper when the crash took place. The vehicle was a 2022 Hyundai Elantra, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, but no information has been shared about what led to the pursuit.
Details of the Crash
The driver, along with two passengers, including a 17-year-old, was not wearing seat belts and were thrown out of the car. A third passenger was not ejected but unfortunately, all four people were pronounced dead at the scene.
The authorities identified the driver as 27-year-old Tykevious D. Russaw from Eufaula. The passengers were identified as 27-year-old Robert D. Hall and 24-year-old Quamay Richardson, both from Clayton. The identity of the teenage passenger has not been revealed.
