Authorities say the violence broke out during a large gathering at Tasker Park in April, creating panic among families and festival visitors nearby. Police have now charged several individuals with attempted murder as the investigation continues.

Gunfire Broke Out During Large Gathering
According to reports, the shooting happened around 5 p.m. on April 12 at Tasker Park near North First Street in Ponchatoula.
Ponchatoula police officers were already working security in the area because of the large crowd gathered at the park and nearby festival activities.
Authorities say officers suddenly heard gunshots coming from within the crowd.
Police later discovered one victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg at the scene.
A second victim who had also been shot in the leg later arrived separately at a hospital for treatment.
Officials have not released further details about the victims’ conditions.
Police Say Hundreds Were Put at Risk
Chief Layrisson stated that investigators gathered evidence connecting the suspects to the altercation and shooting.
Authorities believe the violence endangered hundreds of innocent people attending activities at Tasker Park and nearby festival events.
The shooting also disrupted local celebrations taking place several blocks away from the park.
Community members expressed concern after the violence unfolded in a crowded public area filled with families and festival visitors.
Police continue urging witnesses or anyone with information about the remaining suspects to contact authorities immediately.
The Tasker Park shooting has left many people in Ponchatoula shaken as investigators continue searching for additional suspects connected to the violence. Authorities say the quick response from officers helped secure the area after gunfire erupted among a large crowd.
As the investigation moves forward, local residents hope all remaining suspects are quickly located and that future community events can take place safely without fear of violence disrupting public gatherings.
