A Florida man who stopped to help after a crash ended up fighting for his life in a violent roadside attack.

Sudden Turn from Rescue to Assault

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened Monday on the 429 Expressway near Walt Disney World.

Hans Hamilton pulled over after seeing a white Lexus that had crashed into a guardrail. The driver appeared to collapse on the grass, prompting Hamilton to step in and help.

But moments later, the situation escalated dramatically.

Dashcam Captures Violent Attack

Police identified the suspect as Daniel Coman, 44.

Video shows Coman suddenly jumping up, climbing onto Hamilton’s Tesla, and smashing the windshield before launching a sustained physical attack.

Hamilton was knocked to the ground and repeatedly beaten for more than 30 seconds.

Victim Fights Back

Hamilton said he managed to break free by defending himself, eventually striking the attacker in the throat to stop the assault.

Shortly after, a deputy arrived — but Coman allegedly attempted to attack the officer as well.

With Hamilton’s help, authorities were able to subdue and arrest the suspect.

Multiple Charges Filed

Coman now faces several charges, including:

  • Battery on a law enforcement officer
  • Resisting an officer with violence
  • Assault on a law enforcement officer
  • Battery
  • Criminal mischief

Investigators also linked him to a separate hit-and-run crash nearby and another earlier incident.

Serious Injuries and Recovery

Hamilton was taken to the hospital with severe injuries, including a brain bleed, concussion, multiple bruises, and four broken ribs.

He later said the physical and emotional impact has been overwhelming, adding that he simply wanted to help someone in need.

Case Status

Coman remains in custody at the local jail. He missed a scheduled court appearance due to hospitalization for an undisclosed reason.
