A 21-year-old grandson, Rontrell Jackson, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his 68-year-old grandmother in Arlington, Texas on March 20, 2026. The victim has not yet been publicly identified.
What Happened?
The Arlington Police Department (APD) received a call on March 20, 2026, at 4:40 p.m., reporting that a woman was found unresponsive on her apartment patio. The caller, a family member, described the woman as lying on the patio, covered with a blanket.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced the woman dead. During their investigation, police discovered that the victim and her grandson, Rontrell Jackson, had been involved in a heated argument earlier that day, reportedly about Jackson’s allowance money.
Confession and Arrest
After being questioned by detectives, Jackson admitted to shooting his grandmother early that morning inside the apartment. He then allegedly dragged her body out to the patio. Jackson was arrested and charged with murder.
He was initially booked into the Arlington City Jail, and later moved to Tarrant County Jail, where he is being held on a $750,000 bond.
Weapon Recovered
Authorities recovered the firearm believed to be the murder weapon inside the apartment. The police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
Neighbors’ Reactions
Neighbors of Jackson, Jerry and Keiarra Dennis, expressed shock and sadness over the incident. In an interview with WFAA, Keiarra said, “For someone to have lost their life over an allowance, over a disagreement, that’s the part where it’s hard to process.”
