A Kentucky mother has been arrested for allegedly giving her 22-month-old child a tattoo, claiming the toddler “wanted it.” Brook Ann McDaniel, 27, was charged with fourth-degree assault child ab**e, a misdemeanor, and booked into the Adair County Jail, according to jail records.
Incident and Arrest
On May 4, the Kentucky State Police responded to a call at McDaniel’s Columbia home regarding accusations that she had tattooed her toddler. When police questioned McDaniel, she admitted to giving the child a tattoo.
According to McDaniel, she was inking her own leg when the child walked up and “stuck his arm in the way” of her tattoo gun, leading to the black dot tattoo on the toddler’s right forearm, with some red around the area.
Witnesses told police that McDaniel explained to others that she gave the child a “party dot” tattoo because the toddler “wanted it.”
Deplorable Living Conditions
Upon arriving at the home, authorities noted “deplorable” living conditions and contacted the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services to assess the family’s situation. McDaniel was subsequently arrested and is being held at Adair County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
Legal Proceedings
It is unclear whether McDaniel has entered a plea or retained an attorney. Additionally, there is no information available regarding whether a court date has been set.
