'I'm going to f—ing shoot you': Man ordered driver 'get out' of car before shooting at his vehicle in road rage altercation, according to police

A Florida man has been arrested after authorities say a road rage incident escalated into gunfire on a busy Miami street. Investigators say the suspect allegedly threatened another driver and fired a gun from his vehicle during the confrontation. The incident has led to several serious criminal charges and a court hearing scheduled this week.

Road Rage Incident Reported in Miami

According to authorities, the incident happened on Saturday along Southwest 88th Street in Miami-Dade County.

The victim went to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Hammocks District station shortly after noon to report that another driver had fired a gun during a road rage confrontation.

The victim also brought the bullet slug that he said had been fired at him during the incident and handed it over to deputies as evidence.

Suspect Allegedly Threatened Driver

Investigators later identified the suspect as 24-year-old Raul Alejandro Fontaine.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim said he was driving west on Southwest 88th Street when a man in a black Jeep Gladiator pulled up next to his car.

Authorities say Fontaine allegedly drove onto the sidewalk and stopped beside the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle.

The suspect reportedly yelled at the driver, telling him he did not know who he was and ordering him to get out of the car while threatening to beat him.

Gun Fired During Confrontation

The victim said he initially managed to drive away from the situation. However, Fontaine allegedly continued following him.

At one point, the suspect reportedly pulled up next to the driver’s side window and threatened to shoot him.

Investigators say Fontaine then allegedly fired a gun from his vehicle while driving through heavy traffic.

According to the affidavit, the shot nearly hit the victim and struck a nearby wall instead.

Deputies later inspected the scene and confirmed damage to a wall that appeared to match the bullet’s impact point.

Victim Collected Evidence and Reported Incident

Because the victim’s vehicle was stopped at the time, he was able to exit his car and retrieve the spent bullet from the street.

He then followed the suspect’s vehicle while recording video of the car and its license plate using his cellphone.

After obtaining the information, the victim drove directly to the sheriff’s office to report the incident.

Authorities then issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert for the black Jeep Gladiator.

Deputies Locate and Arrest Suspect

Law enforcement later located the Jeep parked outside a residence in the 13000 block of Southwest 202nd Avenue in Miami.

Deputies set up a perimeter around the area and eventually spotted Fontaine walking nearby.

He was taken into custody without further incident.

During a post-Miranda interview, Fontaine admitted he was involved in the road rage situation. According to investigators, he claimed he fired a single shot at a nearby wall to scare the other driver.

Serious Charges Filed Against Suspect

Fontaine now faces several felony charges, including:

  • Second-degree attempted murder
  • Discharging a firearm from a vehicle
  • Unlawfully discharging a firearm in a public place

Authorities say the act was extremely dangerous because it occurred on a busy road surrounded by other vehicles.

Suspect Held Without Bond

Court records show Fontaine is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County.

Officials confirmed he is being held without bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial detention hearing on Wednesday.
