In Livingston Parish, a man is accused of assaulting an officer with a wrench following a go-kart pursuit

A strange and dangerous incident in Louisiana has led to multiple serious charges after a man allegedly caused chaos while driving a go-kart on public roads. What began as a traffic violation quickly turned into a violent confrontation with police.

Reckless Driving Incident Begins

A 37-year-old man, Kyle Ragan, has been arrested after reportedly driving a go-kart dangerously in Livingston Parish. The incident started near the intersection of Highway 43 and US 190.

According to local authorities, Ragan was seen running a red light while driving eastbound. This forced other drivers to suddenly brake to avoid a collision, creating a risky situation on the road.

Police Chase Across Parishes

An officer from the Albany Police Department attempted to stop him, but Ragan continued driving for about 2.5 miles. He crossed from Albany into the Baptist area of Tangipahoa Parish before finally being stopped.

The pursuit raised safety concerns, as go-karts are not meant for public highways and can be difficult to control at higher speeds.

Violent Confrontation with Officer

After being stopped, the situation escalated quickly. Authorities say Ragan became aggressive and struck the officer. In response, the officer used pepper spray to try to control the situation.

However, the incident did not end there. Ragan allegedly picked up a wrench and hit the officer, causing an injury above the officer’s right eye. Fortunately, the injuries were reported to be minor.

Arrest and Charges

With the help of three other individuals, officers were able to restrain Ragan and take him into custody. He was first transported to Tangipahoa Parish Jail and later moved to Livingston Parish Jail.

Ragan now faces several charges, including aggravated battery, reckless operation, aggravated flight from an officer, and resisting an officer with force or violence. His bond has been set at $75,217.
