The number of U.S. service members killed in the ongoing conflict with Iran has increased after the military confirmed another death linked to a recent attack in the Middle East. Officials say the soldier died from injuries sustained during an assault on American forces stationed in Saudi Arabia.
U.S. Service Member Dies After Attack in Saudi Arabia
The United States Central Command announced that a U.S. service member died from injuries suffered during an attack on American troops in Saudi Arabia.
According to military officials, the service member had been seriously wounded during the Iranian regime’s initial attacks across the region on March 1.
The soldier later died from those injuries, bringing the total number of American troops killed in the conflict with Iran to seven.
The military has not yet released the name of the service member while family members are being notified.
Six U.S. Soldiers Previously Killed in Kuwait
The latest death follows a deadly strike that killed six U.S. soldiers last week in Kuwait.
The attack occurred at a temporary operations center located at the civilian port of Shuaiba on March 1.
All six soldiers were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command based in Iowa.
Military officials said the strike happened without warning while troops were operating at the facility.
Dignified Transfer Held for Fallen Soldiers
The remains of the six soldiers were returned to the United States during a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base.
Donald Trump attended the ceremony alongside other government officials and the families of the fallen troops.
The event honored the soldiers as they were brought home following the attack.
President Says More Casualties Possible
During an interview, President Trump acknowledged that additional casualties may occur as the conflict continues.
He said that meeting with the families of the fallen troops did not change his approach to the war effort.
According to the president, several families encouraged him to continue pursuing victory in honor of their loved ones.
Trump also stated that attending dignified transfer ceremonies is a painful but unavoidable part of wartime leadership.
Separate Death Reported in Kuwait
In a separate announcement, the military also confirmed the death of a U.S. National Guard soldier in Kuwait.
The Pentagon said Sorffly Davius, 46, died during a medical emergency on March 6 at Camp Buehring.
Officials described the incident as health-related and said it remains under investigation.
Davius was also a veteran member of the New York City Police Department, where he had served as a police officer since 2014.
