Georgia Teen Charged After Deadly Prank Incident
An 18-year-old Georgia man, Jayden Ryan Wallace, has been charged with first-degree vehicular homicide and reckless driving following the death of 40-year-old Jason Hughes.
According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on Friday in Gainesville, Georgia.
Investigators say Wallace and four other teenagers went to a home on North Gate Drive to carry out a prank known as “rolling” or “TPing,” which involves throwing toilet paper over trees and property.
While the prank is commonly viewed as a harmless act among teenagers, authorities say this situation quickly turned tragic.
Homeowner Confronts Teens Outside His House
Police said Jason Hughes came outside of his home after noticing the teens on his property.
When Hughes approached them, the teenagers reportedly panicked and rushed back to their vehicles to escape.
During the chaos, Hughes tripped and fell into the roadway.
Investigators say Wallace then drove away in his pickup truck and ran over Hughes.
Victim Later Dies at Hospital
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.
Paramedics transported Hughes to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.
Authorities said the teens remained at the scene and tried to help after the incident before deputies arrived.
Other Teens Face Misdemeanor Charges
Four other 18-year-olds who were present during the prank have also been charged.
Those teens include:

- Aiden Hucks
- Ana Katherine Luque
- Ariana Cruz
They are each facing misdemeanor charges for criminal trespass and littering on private property.
Officials have not indicated that they were involved in the vehicle that struck Hughes.
Victim Remembered as Beloved Teacher and Coach
Jason Hughes was widely known in the community as a dedicated teacher and coach.
He worked as a math teacher and athletic coach at North Hall High School.
Students and colleagues described him as someone who deeply cared about helping others.
The school opened its doors on Saturday to allow students and staff members to gather, mourn, and support each other.
Many students shared emotional memories about the impact Hughes had on their lives.
One former student said Hughes was always there to help students through difficult times and was highly respected throughout the school.
