Jenny McCarthy, known for her role in Scream 3, has been opening up about her spiritual journey. The 53-year-old actress recently appeared on Maria Menounos’ “Heal Squad” podcast, where she shared how her faith has become more important in her life in recent years.
McCarthy explained that whenever she faces a tough week, she turns to prayer. “I’ll put on my Christian playlist and it’s the best medicine you could ever take,” she said. “If you’re feeling depressed or lost, I would encourage anyone to turn to faith.” The actress added that prayer has worked miracles in her life, helping her deal with anxiety and difficult times.
She also shared how she would take “Jesus time-outs” whenever she felt anxious, a way for her to reconnect with her faith. McCarthy, who was raised Irish Catholic and went to Catholic school, now describes herself as “more Christian” and simply a “follower of Christ.”
Jenny and Donnie Wahlberg’s Shared Faith Journey
McCarthy, along with her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, has deepened her connection to religion. The couple, who married in 2014, believes they have surrendered their lives to God. “We’ve really given our life to the Lord and are trusting the path we are on through Him,” McCarthy explained.
She also shared that faith plays an essential role in their relationship, and they both feel guided by their spiritual beliefs.
Date Nights In: Watching “The Chosen”
McCarthy and Wahlberg love to spend their date nights together watching The Chosen, a biblical drama. Wahlberg joked about how their date nights usually end up with the couple staying in, saying, “We make big plans to go out, but then we say, ‘Ah, let’s stay in and watch The Chosen.'”
McCarthy added, “Yeah, yeah, yeah. It’s definitely takeout and sitting back.” The couple enjoys their quiet nights in, finding peace in watching the show and relaxing together.
Hollywood Events and Reflections
Although they love staying in, McCarthy and Wahlberg also enjoy attending big Hollywood events like the iHeartRadio Awards. “Date night… this is a fun night for us!” McCarthy laughed at the event. She joked about their presence at the awards, saying, “Back in my MTV days, I was a young 20-something thinking, ‘Oh my god!’ Now in my 50s, I’m like, ‘OK, we’re still here, presenting, and you’re still a rock star.'”
