The incident took place on January 11, 2024, in the parking lot of Bogalusa High School. According to prosecutors, Keldric Harry, who had been banned from the campus, arrived at the location and opened fire along with another individual.
The shooting targeted a group of teenagers. A 14-year-old boy was hit multiple times and died from his injuries. Another victim was shot in the leg but survived the attack.
Authorities said the incident may have started over a minor issue involving an unlocked vehicle, but it quickly turned into deadly violence.
Court Verdict and Sentence
Following a trial, a jury found Keldric Harry guilty of multiple charges. The sentencing was carried out by John A. Keller, who described the case as deeply tragic.

Second-degree murder – Life in prison
Two counts of attempted second-degree murder – 30 years each
The two 30-year sentences will run one after the other but at the same time as the life sentence. This means he will spend the rest of his life in prison.

One of the most important pieces of evidence presented in court was a voice recording captured about 12 hours after the shooting. In the recording, Harry was allegedly heard talking about the incident and mimicking gunfire sounds.
The defence argued that the recording might have been created using artificial intelligence, but the jury did not accept this claim.
