King Charles displayed a sweet, playful side at the annual Easter church service at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, when he shared a heartwarming interaction with his grandchildren, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte.
A Playful Grandfather Moment
In a delightful moment caught on camera, King Charles playfully nudged his seven-year-old grandson, Prince Louis, as they entered the chapel together. Louis, known for his cheeky behavior at royal events, couldn’t hold back a grin as his grandfather gently tapped him on the chest, creating a warm, endearing moment between the two.
The video, which you can watch above, captures the precious family exchange. King Charles also shared a lighthearted pat with 10-year-old Princess Charlotte as they walked into the chapel.
Despite his usual playful antics, Louis adopted a more serious demeanor during the service, behaving with a level of maturity as he joined his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales.
A Slimmed-Down Monarchy at Easter
The Easter weekend saw a more streamlined version of the royal family attend the service. Alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla, Prince William and Princess Kate, Princess Anne and Sir Timothy Laurence, and Prince Edward with his son James, Earl of Wessex, were present for the important family occasion.
However, the noticeable absence of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie raised questions. Sources confirmed that the sisters opted for “alternative” plans for Easter after discussions with their uncle, King Charles. Despite their absence, Beatrice and Eugenie remain integral members of the royal family and are expected to attend future family events.
The Absence of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie
The princesses have kept a lower profile recently, particularly after the release of documents from the Epstein files earlier this year. Following the release of emails showing their mother Sarah Ferguson took her daughters to visit convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after his release from prison in 2009, Beatrice and Eugenie have withdrawn from public life.
Their father, Prince Andrew, has faced legal trouble and was arrested in February following allegations of misconduct in public office. He had already been stripped of his titles in October 2025 by King Charles.
Other Royal Absences Explained
In addition to the princesses’ absence, concerns arose over the Duchess of Edinburgh’s mysterious no-show. However, sources explained that Sophie’s absence was simply due to being “under the weather” on the day of the service. Sophie was last seen publicly on 23 March, at the Reasons for Hope Gala in London, where she supported the legacy of Dr. Jane Goodall.
Meanwhile, Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of the Duchess of Edinburgh, also missed the Easter service. The 22-year-old is currently focused on her studies at the University of St Andrews, where she is preparing for her graduation this summer.
