A violent rampage in Melbourne’s Dandenong North has left two people injured after a suspect allegedly stabbed a man and his sister while also ramming a car into a house. Police are actively searching for the suspect, who may be armed.
Stabbing and Car Attack
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Exner Street when the suspect reportedly drove a Honda CRV into a house. He then allegedly stabbed a woman, believed to be his sister, inside the home. Neighbors reported seeing the woman exit the house covered in blood, holding her side and a knife.
Paramedics rushed the woman to Dandenong Hospital, where she was treated for multiple upper-body wounds. Authorities confirmed her injuries are serious but non-life-threatening.
Earlier Attack on Cousin
Police say the suspect began his violent spree hours earlier, stabbing his 40-year-old cousin at a property in Epping around 7:15 a.m. The male victim was taken to hospital with injuries also assessed as non-life-threatening.
Both attacks are believed to have been targeted, as the victims are known to the suspect.
Ongoing Manhunt
Southern Metro Region Inspector Graham Higginbotham stated that the suspect is known to police and may be armed. Authorities have deployed air support, the dog squad, and extra patrols to aid in the search.
The suspect was last seen wearing a brown shirt and black trousers. Police have urged residents to remain cautious, not approach the man, and call emergency services immediately if he is spotted.
Community Guidance
Authorities emphasized that there is no evidence of a broader threat to the community, as the attacks appear to be targeted. However, they ask the public to stay alert and exercise caution until the suspect is apprehended.
