Around 12 p.m., the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) received a call about a person who had barricaded themselves inside a home in the Dutchtown Crossing area. Special response units were quickly deployed to the scene to handle the situation.

The Suspect and Charges

The man, identified as Keenan Brown, had multiple warrants out for his arrest. These included charges for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, criminal trespassing, and a fugitive warrant from Tarrant County, Texas. Authorities confirmed that Brown was holed up in the house as they worked to negotiate his surrender.

Crisis Response Team and Negotiation

A negotiation team was brought in to communicate with Brown, with the Crisis Response Team and additional APSO units on site. After hours of attempts, Brown finally surrendered and was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m.

APSO reported that there was no imminent threat to the surrounding community during the standoff, and the situation was resolved peacefully.
