Matthew Wurnig, famous for his social media dating series “50 Dates 50 States,” has been charged with DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) in Minnesota.
Details of the Arrest
According to Crow Wing County arrest records, Wurnig, 29, was arrested on Saturday, March 21, at around 3:30 a.m. local time. He was charged with refusing to submit to a required chemical test (such as a breathalyzer or blood test) and also faces a second-degree DWI charge.
TMZ was the first to report the news. Wurnig has not yet responded to a request for comment from PEOPLE.
Wurnig’s Rise to Fame
Wurnig became widely known during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 through his TikTok dating series. In the series, he went on virtual dates with women from each U.S. state, earning him the title of “TikTok bachelor.” After lockdowns ended, Wurnig traveled across the country to meet the women in person, which led to millions of views on his videos.
He later created more seasons of his dating series, ending the third season with a live finale on Good Morning America, where he gifted a Bahamas cruise to the winner. Season 4 is expected to start this year, featuring a new star named Ray from Louisiana, who will meet men across the U.S. with Wurnig accompanying her.
Current Status
No bail has been set for Wurnig yet. He is still being held at the Crow Wing County Jail as per law enforcement sources.
