A Morgan City man was arrested after police found drugs and cash in his vehicle while a toddler was present, authorities said.

Drug Arrest During Traffic Stop

The Morgan City Police Department reported that narcotics investigators conducted a traffic stop on Louisiana Highway 182 on May 20. The driver was identified as 28-year-old Deonte Devon Harris of Saint Gabriel Street in Patterson. Two adult passengers and a 2-year-old child were also in the vehicle at the time.

Drugs and Cash Seized

During the stop, investigators discovered a large amount of suspected drugs and cash believed to be proceeds from illegal drug sales. Police said they recovered approximately 738 grams of suspected marijuana, five fluid ounces of suspected liquid synthetic cannabinoids, and 10 THC vape cartridges.

Charges and Booking

Harris was arrested and booked at the Morgan City Police Department. He faces multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute synthetic cannabinoids, transactions involving proceeds from drug activity, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, and a traffic violation.

Authorities emphasized the risks of having drugs and controlled substances in a vehicle with a young child present and confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
