A fire incident in New Orleans created panic on Wednesday afternoon, but quick action by firefighters helped prevent injuries and control the situation in time.
Fire Breaks Out in Bywater Area
The fire happened in the Bywater neighbourhood of New Orleans at a multi-unit residential building located on St. Claude Avenue. The structure was a camel-backed style home divided into three units.
The New Orleans Fire Department responded quickly after receiving the emergency call at around 3:02 p.m.
Quick Response by Firefighters
Firefighters reached the scene within minutes, arriving at approximately 3:09 p.m. As the situation became more serious, a second alarm was called at 3:31 p.m., bringing in additional support.
In total, 33 firefighters and 10 units were involved in controlling the fire. Thanks to their efforts, the fire was brought under control by 3:43 p.m.
Residents Safe, No Injuries Reported
All residents had already evacuated the building before firefighters arrived, which helped avoid any injuries. Authorities confirmed that none of the residents or firefighters were hurt during the incident.
The building housed four people across its three units.
Possible Origin of the Fire
Initial reports suggest that the fire may have started in the rear upstairs unit of the building. However, officials have not confirmed the exact cause yet.
