A major drug investigation in Louisiana has led to the arrest of a man accused of distributing illegal substances in the city of Alexandria. Authorities say the case involves large quantities of drugs, weapons, and cash, raising serious concerns about ongoing criminal activity in the area.
Arrest in Alexandria Drug Case
Freddie Lee Henton Jr., 50, has been arrested following an investigation by local law enforcement. The Rapides Area Drug Enforcement Unit (RADE) confirmed that he is facing multiple serious charges linked to drug distribution and illegal possession of weapons.
Multiple Charges Filed
According to officials, Henton is charged with possession of crack cocaine and powder cocaine with intent to distribute. He is also facing charges related to firearms, including possession of a weapon as a convicted felon and carrying a firearm while involved in drug activity.
Additional charges include possession of a controlled medication known as promethazine, drug paraphernalia, and involvement in financial transactions connected to illegal drug activities. Authorities also confirmed that there were already active warrants related to drug distribution.
Search Operation and Seizures
During the investigation, officers searched two locations connected to the suspect—one on Rose Marie Street and another on North Street in Alexandria.
The search led to the seizure of a large amount of evidence. This included over 80 grams of crack cocaine, more than a pound of powder cocaine, and a significant quantity of promethazine cough syrup. Investigators also found packaging materials and equipment believed to be used in drug production.
Weapons and Cash Recovered
Authorities also recovered an AK-47-style pistol during the search. In addition, more than $8,000 in cash was seized, which investigators believe may be linked to drug transactions.
Because of this, civil asset forfeiture procedures have been started to potentially take control of the seized money.
Parole Violation and Custody Status
Officials said that Henton was already on parole for a previous drug conviction from 2018. As part of his parole conditions, he was not allowed to possess a firearm.
He is currently being held at the Rapides Parish Detention Center on a parole violation, with bond set at $80,500.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is still active. This means more evidence could come forward, and additional charges or arrests are possible as the case develops.
