Deputies with the Special Crimes Apprehension Team (SCAT) in Ouachita Parish arrested a man after a traffic stop on I-20 led to the discovery of a large quantity of cocaine.

Traffic Stop and Drug Discovery

The traffic stop took place on Saturday, May 16. Officials say the driver, Daniel Brooks, refused to allow police to search his vehicle. A K9 unit alerted officers to the presence of narcotics, prompting a full search.

Authorities discovered approximately 10 pounds of suspected cocaine inside the vehicle, with an estimated street value of around $100,000.

Charges and Booking

Brooks was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center and charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (cocaine) with intent to distribute.

The arrest is part of ongoing law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
