A heartbreaking case from Pennsylvania has shocked many people after a young mother was charged in connection with the deaths of her three children who died in a house fire. Authorities say the children were left alone inside the home while their mother, 22-year-old Danozjna Williams, was away.

Pennsylvania Mother Charged After Three Children Die in House Fire
Pennsylvania mother Danozjna Williams is now facing serious criminal charges after the deaths of her three young children in a devastating fire that happened on March 29, 2026.
According to reports, the fire started around 4:30 p.m. inside the second floor of a two-story home in Erie. A neighbour noticed flames coming from the building and immediately called emergency services. However, thick smoke made it impossible for anyone nearby to safely enter the home and rescue the children trapped inside.
Authorities said the fire reportedly began in the kitchen, although investigators had not officially confirmed the exact cause as of mid-April.
Three Young Children Tragically Lost Their Lives
The fire claimed the lives of all three children who were inside the house at the time. Williams’ 5-year-old son, Tobias, and her 3-year-old daughter, Da’liyla, were rushed to UPMC Hamot Trauma Center but sadly died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Their youngest sibling, 5-month-old Amirah Al-Mansouri, was flown to a children’s hospital in Pittsburgh for emergency treatment. Despite doctors’ efforts, the infant passed away several days later.
The heartbreaking deaths left neighbours and members of the community devastated as details about the incident slowly became public.
Investigators Say Mother Was Out During the Fire
At first, Williams was not immediately charged after the fire. However, as investigators continued examining evidence and reviewing her movements that day, authorities reportedly discovered new information that changed the direction of the case.
On May 6, Erie County District Attorney Elizabeth Hirz announced that criminal charges would officially be filed against Williams. She was charged with third-degree murder, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, and recklessly endangering another person.
According to prosecutors, Williams had allegedly left the children home alone while travelling to another town to carry out a drug deal.
District Attorney Hirz described the incident as a completely preventable tragedy and stated that the children had been left without proper supervision during a dangerous situation where they depended on their mother for protection and safety.
Police Say Investigation Contradicted Mother’s Original Story
Authorities said the investigation uncovered information that reportedly contradicted Williams’ original explanation of what happened that day.
Investigators claim Williams initially told police she had only been away from home for around five minutes and believed the children were being supervised while she was gone. However, according to an eight-page criminal complaint, detectives later concluded that the children had actually been left alone for nearly an hour.
Police also reportedly discovered evidence suggesting Williams had travelled to another town to meet a woman interested in purchasing drugs. Court documents stated that the woman had previously bought drugs from Tyler Huff, the biological father of two of the children who died. Huff was reportedly already in Erie County Prison at the time of the fire.
Authorities allege Williams and the woman arranged to meet in Corry for the transaction, but Williams never arrived because her landlord called to inform her that the apartment was on fire.
Danozjna Williams Turns Herself In
On May 7, Williams turned herself in to the Erie Police Department after learning about the charges filed against her. According to court records, she is currently being held at Erie County Prison without bail.
Officials confirmed that she is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 28. Her future now depends on the outcome of the ongoing legal proceedings.
Neighbours Describe the Fire as Traumatic
People living near the home where the fire happened continue to speak emotionally about the tragic scene they witnessed that afternoon. Several neighbours told local media that hearing the screams, seeing the smoke, and knowing children were trapped inside left a lasting impact on the community.
One neighbour explained that it was extremely painful to imagine what the children may have experienced during the fire. Another person said they felt helpless while watching firefighters desperately try to enter the burning home.
Residents also described hearing glass breaking while emergency crews attempted to rescue anyone inside. Many said the tragedy brought deep trauma to the entire neighbourhood.
Some neighbours also reacted strongly after learning the allegations against Williams. One resident described the claims as shocking and upsetting, saying there was no excuse for leaving young children alone in order to complete a drug deal.
