A tragic incident in Texas has led to the arrest of a 24-year-old man accused of killing the mother of his child during a domestic argument. Authorities say the man himself called 911 and admitted that he had placed the woman in a headlock before she became unresponsive. The case is now being investigated as a murder, while the couple’s child has been placed under protective care.
Texas Man Arrested in Woman’s Death
Police identified the accused as Marc Balditt, 24. He is currently being held at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on a murder charge.
The incident happened on Wednesday night at around 10 p.m. at The Park at Sutton Oaks apartment complex located on Locke Street in San Antonio, Texas.
According to investigators, Balditt contacted emergency dispatchers and reported that a woman was not responding after he allegedly put her in a headlock.
Police Found Woman Unresponsive Inside Apartment
When San Antonio Police officers arrived at the apartment, they reportedly found the woman lying unresponsive.
Authorities said the victim had visible redness on her neck and vomit on her face.
Emergency medical teams were called to the scene, but the woman was later pronounced dead.
As of now, officials have not publicly released the victim’s identity.
Argument Allegedly Turned Violent
Investigators spoke with Balditt after the incident. According to police reports, he told officers that he and the woman were discussing issues related to their child before an argument broke out.
Police say the disagreement eventually became physical.
Authorities allege that Balditt placed the woman in a chokehold for around one to two minutes in an attempt to “put her to sleep.”
Following the investigation at the scene, officers arrested Balditt and charged him with murder.
Child Placed in Protective Custody
After police responded to the apartment, the couple’s child was taken into the custody of Child Protective Services.
Officials have not shared further details about the child’s condition or age.
The case has raised serious concerns about domestic violence and the dangers of physical confrontations during heated arguments.
Suspect Held on $250,000 Bond
According to jail records, Marc Balditt remains in custody with a bond set at $250,000.
Court records show that he is expected to appear in court again on Aug. 12 as legal proceedings continue.
