Two men in Louisiana are in custody after police say they kidnapped a pregnant woman and threw her from a moving vehicle.

The Arrests

Brett Michael Phillips, 34, faces multiple charges including domestic ab*se battery on a pregnant victim, second-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree feticide, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle, according to the Jeanerette Police Department.

Chris Adam Phillips, 36, has been charged with being an accomplice to domestic ab*se battery on a pregnant victim, second-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree feticide, failure to seek assistance, and simple assault.

Both men were booked into the Juandre Gilliam Law Enforcement Center before being transported to the Iberia Parish Jail. Authorities have not disclosed when they will appear in court.

The Incident

Police say the incident happened on Tuesday at around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Katherine Street in Jeanerette, a small city about 120 miles west of New Orleans.

Officers reported that residents helped the victim after she was thrown from the moving vehicle. The woman, who is pregnant, was transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Authorities added that the victim was in a dating relationship with one of the suspects.

Investigation and Community Help

Nearby residents also helped police track down the two suspects. Authorities have not clarified the relationship between Brett Phillips and Chris Phillips.
