Donald Trump responded after several artists dropped out of the upcoming Freedom 250 celebration, announcing plans to give a major speech at an “America Is Back Rally.” The Great American State Fair is a 16-day event on the National Mall from June 25 to July 10, marking America’s 250th anniversary.
Trump Responds to Artist Cancellations
Trump, posting on Truth Social, said artists like Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Morris Day, Young MC, and The Commodores had “the yips” and were unwilling to perform. He announced that he might step in as the main attraction and deliver a speech, calling himself “the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!).”
He emphasized that he wants to surround himself with “happy people, smart people, successful people, and people that know how to WIN” while celebrating the country. Trump instructed his representatives to explore the feasibility of holding the rally on the same day and location as the canceled performances.
Remaining Performers
Despite multiple cancellations, Vanilla Ice and Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli defended their decision to continue performing at the event. Freedom 250 is the public-private group formed to organize the 250th anniversary celebrations.

Trump later suggested replacing the event with a MAGA rally instead of relying on “overpriced singers” whose music he criticized.
He also referenced a recent federal judge’s ruling that blocked his name from appearing on the Kennedy Center and struck down plans for a two-year closure and renovation. Trump claimed the decision would harm the center and criticized the judge personally, calling for impeachment.
