Donald Trump visited Walter Reed National Military Medical Center early Tuesday for what the White House described as a routine annual dental and medical assessment.
The visit marked Trump’s third in-person medical appointment at Walter Reed in just over a year.
After the appointment, Trump posted on Truth Social saying everything checked out “perfectly” and thanked the doctors and staff before returning to the White House.
Trump Remains One of the Oldest Presidents
Trump, who turns 80 next month, is currently the oldest person ever to assume the U.S. presidency.
Former President Joe Biden left office at age 82 in 2025.
Although the White House has repeatedly stated Trump is in excellent health, questions about his age and physical condition have continued to attract attention.
April 2025 Physical Report
Following Trump’s full physical examination in April 2025, White House physician Sean Barbabella released a medical report stating the president remained in “excellent health.”
According to the report:
| Health Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Weight | 224 pounds |
| Cholesterol | LDL cholesterol in optimal range |
| Cardiac Health | Reported as strong |
| Neurological Health | Reported as normal |
The report also noted scarring on Trump’s right ear connected to the 2024 assassination attempt in Butler.
Doctors additionally found diverticulosis and a benign polyp during a colonoscopy in 2024 and recommended another colonoscopy in three years.
Leg Swelling and Bruising Discussed in 2025
In July 2025, Barbabella released another memo after Trump reportedly experienced mild swelling in his legs.
Doctors diagnosed him with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition affecting blood flow in the veins.
The White House described the condition as common and non-serious.
Barbabella also addressed visible bruising on Trump’s hands, explaining it was likely linked to frequent handshaking and daily aspirin use.
Trump Revealed He Underwent MRI Scan
Trump returned to Walter Reed again in October 2025.
Although the White House initially described it as a routine follow-up visit, Trump later revealed he underwent an MRI scan during the appointment.
He later joked that the scan was not related to his brain because he had “aced” a cognitive test.
Doctors later confirmed Trump underwent imaging scans of his heart and abdomen, which they said showed normal results.
Trump Says He Takes Extra Aspirin
In a January 2026 interview, Trump said he takes 325 milligrams of aspirin daily, which he admitted was more than doctors recommended.
He explained he believed aspirin helped thin the blood and support heart health.
Trump also said he regretted undergoing advanced imaging scans because he felt critics used the tests to question his health despite normal results.
Health Questions Continue Ahead of Election Season
As Trump continues serving as president while approaching age 80, discussions about his health and fitness for office remain a major political topic.
While the White House insists he remains in strong physical condition, public attention has continued focusing on his age, medical visits, and visible health concerns.
