A quadruple amputee and professional cornhole player, Dayton James Webber, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing 27-year-old Bradrick Michael Wells on Sunday night in La Plata, Maryland.
Webber, 27, is known for his disability rights advocacy and his achievements as a competitive cornhole player, despite losing all four of his limbs to a severe streptococcus infection at the age of 10 months.
What Happened on March 22?
The incident occurred on March 22, 2026, when police received a report about a shooting in La Plata. Authorities say that Webber and two passengers were in a car when an argument broke out between Webber and Wells, the front seat passenger. During the argument, Webber allegedly shot Wells.
According to police reports, after shooting Wells, Webber pulled over and asked the witnesses to help remove the body, but they refused and left the scene. Webber then fled with Wells’ body still in the car.
Later, police found Wells’ body in a front yard in Charlotte Hall, Maryland, and tracked Webber to a hospital in Virginia, where he was arrested.

After contracting streptococcus pneumonia as a baby, doctors were forced to amputate his hands, forearms, and most of his legs to save his life.
