A shocking homicide case from Wisconsin has drawn attention after a man allegedly confessed to killing his grandmother and then fled hundreds of miles away to another state. Investigators say the suspect admitted the crime to multiple family members before he was arrested by police in Utah.
Wisconsin Man Accused of Killing Grandmother
A 36-year-old Wisconsin man, Randy Jenks, has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide after authorities say he stabbed his grandmother to death inside her home.
The victim, 75-year-old Patricia Mae Glenn, was found dead at her residence in the Town of Mount Morris, Wisconsin.
According to investigators, deputies from the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office were called to the home on Sunday evening at about 7:44 p.m. after a concerned family member requested a welfare check.
Body Discovered During Welfare Check
When deputies arrived at the home, they made a grim discovery.
Authorities found Glenn lying inside the house in a pool of blood. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
The welfare check had been requested by Glenn’s granddaughter, who is also Randy Jenks’ sister.
While speaking with deputies, she revealed troubling information about her brother.
Family Told Police About Suspect’s Confession
According to the criminal complaint, family members said Jenks had already begun telling relatives that he had stabbed his grandmother and fled the state.
Investigators learned that Jenks had reportedly told family members he was heading to Utah.
Relatives informed police that they had an aunt living in Ogden, Utah, and believed Jenks might be staying there.
Phone Call Confession
To confirm the information, the granddaughter called the aunt’s home.
During the call, Jenks was reportedly there and spoke directly with his sister.
According to investigators, he allegedly confessed during the conversation, saying:
“I stabbed Grandma in the living room, on the floor.”
The shocking admission prompted family members to immediately inform law enforcement.
Suspect Had Been Living With Victim
Authorities also learned that Jenks had been living with his grandmother for about a year before the killing.
Family members told police he had been struggling with mental health issues, though investigators have not released further details.
This background information is now part of the ongoing investigation into the case.
Another Confession to His Mother
Detectives also spoke with Jenks’ mother, who told authorities her son had called her after the incident.
During that call, he allegedly admitted that he stabbed his grandmother in the neck.
According to the complaint, Jenks told his mother he ran away because he was scared.
Arrest in Utah
After confirming Jenks was in Ogden, Utah, local law enforcement was contacted.
Officers from the Ogden City Police Department responded to the aunt’s home where Jenks was staying.
Authorities detained him without any resistance or incident.
During questioning by police, Jenks reportedly admitted that he killed his grandmother and claimed she had “pushed him too far.”
Investigators have not yet released details about what may have led to the violent confrontation.
Extradition to Wisconsin Expected
Jenks is currently in custody in Utah.
Authorities say he will be extradited back to Waushara County, Wisconsin, where he will formally face the charge of first-degree intentional homicide.
As of now, a court date has not yet been scheduled.
The extradition process will determine when he is transferred back to Wisconsin to begin court proceedings.
