The gruesome discovery was made on Drumsesk Road in the village of Rostrevor, Northern Ireland. Authorities confirmed that the lambs were found lifeless at a local farm, with evidence suggesting that their necks had been intentionally snapped.

Inspector Reynolds, of the Police Service of Northern Ireland, described the incident as “shocking” and urged the public to come forward with any relevant details from the evening of March 13 through the early hours of March 14.
Local Farmer Speaks Out
The lambs belonged to Kevin McGivern, a local farmer who spoke to the BBC about the devastation he faced upon discovering the animals. McGivern, accompanied by his brother, arrived at the field to feed the lambs and immediately sensed something was terribly wrong.
“At least 11 had their necks broken, the others were probably strangled,” McGivern recounted, describing the scene as “like a crime scene.” He expressed his shock and sorrow, calling the loss the “worst thing I could ever imagine.”
McGivern’s Efforts to Help the Ewes
In the wake of the tragedy, McGivern plans to relocate some of the ewes that lost their lambs to another area of his farm in an attempt to provide them with new lambs for bonding.
He acknowledged that this process would be difficult, explaining that it would involve relieving the ewes of their milk and trying to have them adopt other lambs to alleviate their distress.
“It’s a welfare issue,” McGivern said. “Hopefully, if they adopt another lamb, it makes the ewe feel better. It’s the best of a bad job.”

The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking any information that could assist in identifying the person or persons responsible for the killings. The local community has been left shaken by the brutal attack on the lambs, and authorities are urging anyone who noticed anything unusual during the specified timeframe to come forward.
