Savannah Guthrie took to Instagram on Mother’s Day to share an emotional tribute to her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing for more than three months. The “Today” anchor, 54, expressed her deep pain and unwavering determination to find her mom, who authorities believe was taken from her Arizona home against her will.
A Powerful Message of Hope and Determination
“Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie − we miss you with every breath,” Guthrie wrote in her post. “We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.” The heartfelt message was accompanied by a video compilation of family photos and clips of Nancy Guthrie, including several touching moments between mother and daughter.
In her caption, Guthrie urged anyone with information about her mother’s disappearance to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI. “We need help. Someone knows something that can make the difference,” she pleaded, emphasizing that tips could be made anonymously and a reward remains available.
Her post ended with a heartfelt plea: “Please keep praying. Bring her home.”
The Ongoing Search for Nancy Guthrie
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on February 1 after she was last seen the evening before at her home in Arizona. The FBI released images showing an armed individual tampering with the security camera at Nancy’s front door prior to her disappearance, but the suspect remains unidentified.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the case, and the Guthrie family has offered a reward of up to $1 million for any information leading to Nancy’s safe return.
Savannah Guthrie’s Return to “Today” Show
Savannah Guthrie stepped away from her duties at the “Today” show following her mother’s disappearance, but she made her return on April 6. In an emotional interview with Hoda Kotb before her first day back, Guthrie opened up about the challenges of returning to work amidst her personal crisis.
“It’s hard to imagine doing it, because it’s such a place of joy and lightness,” Guthrie explained. “I can’t come back and try to be something that I’m not. But I can’t not come back, because it’s my family. I think it’s part of my purpose right now. I want to smile. And when I do, it will be real. My joy will be my protest. My joy will be my answer. And being there is joyful.”
No Breakthroughs in the Investigation
As of now, there have been no significant updates in the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. On May 7, the Tucson Police Department confirmed that a human bone was found 7 miles from her home, but it was determined to be “prehistoric” and unrelated to the case.
