A tragic incident in Park Slope, Brooklyn, left a mother and her adult daughter dead in what authorities are calling a murder-suicide. This is the second such fatal incident at the same brownstone in just two years.
The Incident
Police responded to 386 Second St. shortly before 8 p.m. on Saturday after a 911 call about an unresponsive woman. Officers found a 59-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. A search of the home revealed her 23-year-old daughter, also fatally stabbed. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
Circumstances and Cause
Authorities believe the younger woman got into a heated argument with her mother before fatally stabbing her and then taking her own life. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
History at the Same Building
The address was the site of another murder-suicide in January 2024. Jason Jackson, 34, reportedly shot his partner, Olga Kirshenbaum, 34, before taking his own life. Kirshenbaum was a well-known financial consultant, often called “The Money Whisperer,” and Jackson worked as a cook.
Community Reaction
Longtime Park Slope resident Fred Fassberger said that after the 2024 incident, neighbors held emergency community meetings at a nearby church to process the tragedy and stay informed. The new murder-suicide has shocked the community once again.
